Job SummaryAs a member of the New Product Development team, the primary responsibility for the role of Product Development Engineer is to design and develop new products and work on continuous improvement of the existing pumps, valves, or other fluid displacement equipment with precision for food and beverage industry.Principle Duties and Responsibilities* Design and develop new products utilizing advanced modeling tools and engineering principles* Utilize CAD (Computer Aided Design), CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings with higher standards.* Document/ analyze design feasibility studies, tolerances, FEA (finite elemental analysis), CFD (computational fluid dynamics) reports to ensure product meets requirements.* Apply engineering analysis to make data-driven design decisions. Develop and review design prototypes, perform tests, and finalize product design to facilitate production.* Analyze new materials, technologies, and processes to evaluate functionalities for all new product development or improvement of existing products.* Comply with Design Control and Stage-Gate processes while designing prototypes and products.* Design and verify product to comply with the guidelines by hygiene and sanitation regulatory bodies (i.e., EHEDG, 3A).* Prepare and approve product design and test plans, review designs, and recommend adequate changes to the approved models before the actual rollout of new product.* Perform other product development related duties as requested, directed, or assigned.* Prepare comprehensive project plans with technical objectives and detailed cost estimates.* Analyze product cost and prepare schedule plans for effective implementation of programs.* Track progress of assigned projects to report to major stakeholders.* Document records for all project proposal and associated activities.* Research competitor's performance bench-markings and study current advancements in the industry.* Conduct research and analysis to evaluate new products or improve product performance and efficiency of existing products.* Review existing drawings and make necessary changes to support manufacturing via ECO (Engineering Change Order)* Provide technical support to existing and new products.* Coordinate with the other members of the engineering team to expedite the design process and establish priorities* Collaborate with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers, and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability* Interface with Product Managers, Applications Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Purchasing, and other functions during all phases of product development.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES* Proven ability to coach, train and interact with all levels of employees from senior managers down.* Outstanding relationship building skills with the ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, at every level, strong listening skills.* Ability to be resourceful, think creatively and analytically, problem-solve, experiment, and adapt, and make bold decisions and recommendations.* Strong work ethics and Positive attitude.* Strong hold on engineering principles (mechanics, thermal and fluid sciences) and knowledge of basic manufacturing methods.* Strong business acumen with effective negotiation skills.* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and thrive under pressure.* Ability to manage and prioritize competing tasks and projects, strong organizational skills.* Must be a team player who can also work independently.* Proven track record of meeting commitments with the highest level of standards, ethics and integrity.* Energetic with a clear sense of urgency and direction; able to inspire and invigorate associates at all levels; promote concepts effectively.* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.* Ability to travel up to 5% of time if required.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE* 5-10 years of design experience or 4-8 years with master's degree* Experience with CAD, Preferred CAD/PDM system is Inventor/Autodesk Vault.* Experience or exposure to FEA, CFD and Heat Transfer analysis tools (ANSYS, FLUENT, etc.)* NPD New Product Design experience.* Experience working in a precision machining environment.* Experience designing pumps or rotary equipment.* Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering* Experience working in the food and beverage industry (Sanitary applications)COMPETENCIESAdaptabilityMaintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjusting effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures.Building Customer LoyaltyEffectively meeting customer needs; building productive customer relationships; taking responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty.CommunicationClearly and succinctly conveying information and ideas to individuals and groups in a variety of situations; communicating in a focused and compelling way that drives others' thoughts and actions.
