Immediate Registered Nurse opening at Beloit Memorial Hospital in
our Emergency Department . Sign-On Bonus: Yes Shift: 1st/2nd varied
or 3rd shift Schedule: 12 hour shifts, varied start time Hours per
week: 36 hours per week Benefits Status: Benefits Eligible
Department: Emergency Department In this position the Registered
Nurse- Emergency Department will complete nursing duties which will
include working triage, assessing and caring for critically ill
patients, and working with trauma patients. The ED nurse cares for
people who are sick, injured, disabled, and suffer various types of
illness or trauma requiring emergency attention and must be able to
recognize and effectively treat life-threatening conditions. The ED
nurse delivers care to patients utilizing the nursing process of
assessment, triage, planning, intervention, implementation, and
evaluation, in accordance with Wisconsin state licensures,
policies, procedures, and evidence-based standards of care. ED
nurses critically think, are calm under pressure, show patience and
empathy, effectively interact with patients and significant others,
while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. Complies
with all legal and safety requirements Abides by all hospital
rules, regulations, and policies Performs triage, while considering
both physical and psychological elements Manages multiple cases
simultaneously, prioritizing needs continually Collects current
symptoms, as well as detailed patient history and consults and
coordinates with the ED healthcare team Detects changes in
symptoms, health or pain, and knows when action is necessary
Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients until the
physician is available based on policies, protocols, and standards
of care Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient charts including
vital signs and patient assessments Initiates corrective action
whenever the information from monitoring equipment shows adverse
symptomology Works directly under the physicians and licensed
providers, assisting during exams, diagnostic testing, and
treatments Prepares and administers medication as prescribed and
records the administered medications. Reports adverse reactions to
medications or treatments following the policy regarding the
administration of medications Provides basic bedside nursing care
Reports any suspected abuse to appropriate agencies Collaborates
professionally with the agencies involved with the Emergency
Department Collaborates with EMS/paramedics in the care of a
patient and provides a professional, respectful, and educational
working environment Maintains proper supplies and adequate medical
equipment to care for patients Displays professionalism with
completing multiple urgent tasks promptly Initiates patient
education as prescribed by the physician or licensed provider to
include teaching patients and significant others about
illness/injury, by explaining post-treatment homecare needs,
diet/nutrition/exercise, self-administering medication, and
rehabilitation, as well as providing referral information for
follow-up treatment Records all care information concisely,
accurately, and entirely, in a timely manner in the appropriate
format and on appropriate forms or in the electronic health record
Able to deal with patients and families in various states of
illness, pain, trauma, shock, and tragedy. This includes being a
good listener and an excellent communicator to help keep everyone
calm and help patients and families understand the situation
Attends medical emergencies in the hospital and on hospital grounds
per policy May be called in the event of a disaster or large-scale
situation Assists with staffing NorthPointe Immediate Care Actively
participates in quality improvement in the department (committee,
education, department-specific goals, and requirements). Management
can assist in finding a quality improvement opportunity Attends all
required training and continuing education events Adheres to

Keeps personal medical information about patients confidential
Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on
assignment setting Job Requirements Graduate of accredited school
of nursing ADN, Diploma, BSN, or MSN degree acceptable State of
Wisconsin nursing licensure or permit required State of Illinois
nursing licensure or permit required (NorthPointe) Must be CPR
certified within three months of hire Successful ACLS completion
within six months of hire Successful PALS completion within one
year of hire TNCC or TNS highly recommended Ability to interpret,
adapt and apply the proper procedure to Beloit Health System
policies Possess the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to
perform the following activities for patients of following age
groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
Adheres to corporate values and defined work habits of Beloit
Health System Keeps personal medical information about patients
confidential Participates in an education program (24 continuing
education units required annually, and educated needed for job
duties) and continually seeks personal development Successful
completion of a pre-placement physical examination Involved
physical effort that includes a full range of body motion which
includes standing, walking for extensive periods. Also assist with
lifting patients up to 25 pounds of weight, pushing transport carts
ranging in weight of 50-200 pounds. Manual and finger dexterity and
eye/hand coordination Ability to see and hear at a level sufficient
to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to speak clearly and distinctly and to interact positively
with patients, peers, and the public. Ability to carry up to 15
pounds Ability to read, write and follow oral and written
instructions. Requires sometimes working in stressful conditions or
irregular hours Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or
