This position is responsible for supporting and mentoring families in the Child Protective Services (CPS) system who have had their children placed in out-of-home care. The Parent Partner are parents who have first-hand experience with the CPS system and who understand how the system works, an appreciation of what it takes to be successful, and personal qualities that lend themselves to collaboration on various levels.The Parent Partner is an essential member of the PSP Program team and is part of a local and state effort to elevate parent voice and involvement to support local and state policy and systems change. As such, we are seeking passionate and committed individuals who are skilled in the areas of listening, providing guidance, and sharing hope with families in the CPS system. The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude, sincerity, and a willingness to help others. A Parent Partner will have successfully exited the CPS system after having had their child(ren) placed in out-of-home care related to shared lived experience with the parent.SALARY: $15 an hourKey Responsibilities:Participate as an integral part of the Parents Supporting Parents team.Successfully complete the Building a Better Future training.Complete the suite of 14 trainings within the first year of employment.Contact the parent within one week of the assignment.Maintain regular, face-to-face contact with the parent, with more contact in the beginning (1x/week).Attend individual supervision; team meetings, unit meetings; and monthly reflective clinical support.Meet with the ongoing CPS Professional and the family together as needed or requested by the family.Attend meetings with parents as needed as part of their case plan, examples include court, school, family team meetings, coordinated service teams, or meetings with other providers.Complete PSP paperwork and data collection requirements.Support parents in following their case plan and addressing safety concerns.Support and empower the parent to make changes, advocate for and communicate their needs, and help them find solutions and a pathway towards positive change.Maintain healthy boundaries and relationships.Be open in supervision and monthly group about the challenges that come up in your work and your own journey towards health and wellbeing.Attend meetings and other community groups to serve as a key stakeholder in supporting and improving policy, practice and overall systems change.Take the lead in meetings or present on the PSP Program and your role as an PP.Tell your story and share your experiences (as comfortable) to advocate for local and state shifts in perspective, values, and attitudes about children, youth, and adults served within the system.Participate in local and state PSP Advisory Council meetings, as needed.Assist in local and state policy and program changes and other system changes that would further promote, support, and sustain the integration of parent voice, participation and perspective by participating in meetings, committees, advisory councils, and providing feedback on documents and training curriculum.Provide community outreach and education on the PSP Program to build community support, awareness, and participation as needed.Maintain a high level of confidentiality.Other duties as assigned..

Education and Training:Keep current on information pertaining to client/family needs through seminars, training, media, text, and research.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to read, speak and write clearly in English.Must be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the Rock County Human Services Department.Must establish and maintain productive and professional relationships with clients, colleagues, the school district, and other community agencies.Must maintain client confidentiality.Ability to prioritize and make appropriate decisions.Ability to work independently and effectively manage time.Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to provide culturally, ethnically, and gender-sensitive services.Possess an understanding of the dynamics of separation.Ability to follow directions and implement recommendations.Possess creativity in identifying problems and solutions.Ability to self-motivate and remain on task.Knowledge and compliance with policies and procedures as detailed in the personnel policy and procedure manual.
