Description: The Analytical Chemist develops and implements activities and experiments related to radiochemical separation techniques and processes to support the commercialization of spent nuclear fuel reprocessing and transmutation.
Duties and Responsibilities:Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform experimental and prototyping work related to chemical and radiochemical handling, sampling, and analysis.
• Develop and modify standard operating procedures for the use of laboratory equipment and write test plans.
• Perform liquid-liquid and column separation of actinides, lanthanides, and other fission products.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.Requirements: - B.S. in chemistry or relevant scientific discipline. Advanced degree preferred. - Experience of handling radioactive materials and radioanalytical instruments. - Work experience in a radiological laboratory setting. - Willingness to be hands on and understand new technology. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant's ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant's eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.
