Join us!Job SummaryReporting to the Senior Financial Partner of Engineering Basic Capital, the Assistant Project Officer (APO) is responsible for ensuring basic capital programs meet Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) control guidelines.Main ResponsibilitiesAuditing--- Act as a key line of defense and point of contact on SOX issues in Basic Capital, proactively working with Engineering management and field employees--- Identify, document and correct apparent SOX issues within capital programs--- Where SOX rules are not definitive, take the conservative course while evaluating the appropriateness of escalation through finance or accountingCoaching and Training--- Provide guidance and training to EngineeringReporting--- Liaison to the Engineering AVP or Chief on SOX failures and correction steps--- Answer to internal and external audit on their findings Working ConditionsThe role requires minimal travel (10%) and occasional work outside of working hours. The dress code is business casual.RequirementsExperienceEngineering, Finance or Audit--- Engineering, finance or audit experienceEducation/Certification/Designation--- High School Diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED)Competencies--- Applies analytical thinking to make recommendations that pursue sustainable performance --- Tracks metrics to achieve ambitious targets and holds self accountable to meet performance expectations --- Knows the business and stays current with industry trends to elevate expertise and work --- Promotes ideas while evaluating impacts--- Inspires others with impactful communications and adapts well to its audience--- Initiates, influences and drives organizational changes to enable business transformation --- Shares timely information within and across functions to get things done effectively --- Builds and maintains an internal network to support a better overall work experienceTechnical Skills/Knowledge--- Time management--- Strong computer skills--- Microsoft Office especially Excel--- PMA--- SAP--- Fieldglass--- Knowledge of Engineering field work and procedures**Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an assetAbout CN CN is a world-class transportation leader and trade-enabler.
