Description:SHINE is immediately seeking an Entry Level
Radiation Protection Technician to join our growing team in a
fast-paced and innovative environment, supporting projects to bring
medical radioisotopes and fusion technologies to market. The Entry
Level Radiation Technician will perform duties under general
supervision, related to safe radiological and hazardous material
handling, cleaning, and control. This is a great opportunity for an
individual with a technical background who is interested in
entering the Radiation Protection field. The right candidate is a
self-starter and team-player who works hard and has a passion for
helping others while learning new concepts and skills on the
job.Starting Pay $23.00/HourDuties and Responsibilities:Specific
duties and responsibilities for the Entry Level Radiation
Protection Technician include, but are not limited to:
- Perform area cleaning and decontamination in an industrial and
laboratory environment.
- Perform radiation and contamination surveys.
- Take actions to identify and control sources of radiological
materials.
- Package, handle, control, store, and label radioactive
material.
- Assist Radiation Protection staff in implementing radiological
controls.
- Perform radiological work activities in a manner that follows
SHINE Radiation Protection procedures and policies.
- Maintain and track inventory of consumable items.
- Participate in safety briefings.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned by the Radiation
Protection Manager.Requirements:Radiological Decontamination
Technician Job Requirements:
- Minimum Associate's degree in a technical subject; or High
School Diploma (or equivalent) and two (2) years of relevant
industrial, laboratory or similar experience.
- Previous experience performing maintenance, equipment repair,
operation of equipment and/or laboratory instrumentation is
preferred
- Knowledge of chemistry, arithmetic, algebra, and their
application.
- Willingness to learn and understand new technology,
instrumentation, and technical processes.
- Ability to pass SHINE Radiological Worker training provided on
the job.
- Ability to pass SHINE Radiological Instrumentation training
provided on the job.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Efficient in the use of MS Office Suite preferred.
- Must be able to work multiple or staggered shifts.
- Overtime may be required as part of this position. Eligibility
for employment is conditioned on the applicant's ability to qualify
for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls.
Additionally, applicant's eligibility may be conditioned based upon
meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access
to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a
pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background
