Job Description:
The Department of Germanic Studies at the University of Chicago
invites applications for part-time Lecturers during the 2025-26
academic year. The selected candidate will have part-time teaching
opportunities in the German Language curriculum. Responsibilities
include preparing and teaching seminar-style language courses at
various levels (elementary, intermediate, and/or advanced), holding
regularly scheduled office hours, and the preparing and grading of
assignments and testing materials. Depending on the curricular
needs of the department, the successful candidate may teach between
one and four courses per academic year. The terms and conditions of
employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining
agreement between the University and Service Employees
International Union. The per-course salary for academic year
2025-26 will be at least $8,883. This position is not benefits
eligible. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Applicants must have professional experience in a related field
and/or at least the equivalent of one year of experience teaching
at the university or post-secondary level.
